News: Been a While

Okay, for anyone who cares, I know it's been a really long time since my last post. But a lot has happened since the last time I wrote. I've scrapped the Deus Ex Machina project, as well as the development of Queratia. Instead, I am focusing on something different. A friend and I have been working for a while on programming an instant messenger from scratch, in Java. We're almost finished with v1.0, and I can finalize the code once he gets back from his incredibly long vacation. The initial release won't have many features, but it will work nicely. It's meant to be used on shared network drives at schools and corporations, for students/workers who need to exchange information, or are just bored and need a break. I am also working on two other java projects. The first is a zombie attack simulator, based on The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks. Honestly I don't know when I'll have this out, since the Instant Messenger is my first priority at this point. The last project I am working on is a basic desktop assistant called Apollo. I'm really excited about this one, since I've been thinking of making an interactive desktop assistant for a while. Apollo will be open-source, and will be able to modify his own code(to a certain extent) so you can add new commands, definitions, etc. Summed up, Apollo will be a learning AI that, after a few weeks of usage, should be quite a capable assistant. This is requiring a lot more creative thinking on my part than usual(which is saying something), and it's only in early development, so no release date is set yet. Also, I have fixed the download links. So if anyone wants to download any of my stuff, all the links are posted at the bottom of this post. As always, anyone who wants assistance or has questions about my projects can contact me at a.darkstone@yahoo.com. I'll probably be posting a lot more now, so keep checking. Thanks!

Download Servers

Ok, I've received reports of download issues from some testers. This may or may not be a timing issue, but in any case, I will leave the current server running, and whoever tries to download anything off here, please comment on this post and see how it went! Thanks!

File Downloads

Okay, in case there is any confusion, the hyperlinks I put in don't work. You have to copy and paste the URL in your browser, until I summon up the energy to fix it. Sorry!

Cube Wars Game

I've got a lot of Blitz3D projects up in the air right now, but I'd say that the closest one to being finished is Cube Wars.
Cube Wars is designed to run off a flash drive on any computer--such as school networks. It is a simple 3D two-player game, made for killing some time in a free period or computer class, and as such has no supporting files whatsoever. Everything is in one relatively small executable file. The only problem right now is that it's just about the buggiest program I've ever written, probably due to the fact that I don't know Blitz3D as well as some other languages. I will continue my debugging, and hopefully have it up for download sometime soon!

Deus Ex Machina Game in Pre-Planning Stage

Hi-
So I've been following the machinima videos of this guy named Digitalph33r for quite a while now. I recommend you watch some of them; he's got good material. Anyway, one of his more dramatic-themed shows, called Deus Ex Machina, I've been particularly interested in. It has a lot of potential for a video game(which is sort of ironic, considering the fact that it was made from video game footage to begin with). I have come of with a rough draft for a plan of a Deus Ex Machina 2D game. This will be more challenging than some other 2D games I've made, because the halo sprite sheet doesn't have the right armor. I will see what I can do to get some of the correct sprites, but if anyone reading this has any graphic designing skills and would like to provide a little assistance, here is what I need as of now(all of this is from halo):
- Hyabusa armor sprite(white)
- different color master chief armor sprite(can be whatever color you feel like, but go towards white, black, grey, or orange.)

Any help at all is appreciated! Thanks!

Queratia-Java Game Demo

I have recently learned to program java, and this is my first real attempt at something halfway decent. I like the way this project is turning out a lot, it's rather unique for its time. The best part is that there is no graphics requirement for this one. You computer could be from the eighties and it would still work. I think that, while the concept might turn you away initially, you'll grow to like it. Give it a try. This is the demo version--the full game is still in production. I will put it out when I'm finished, which I hope will be sometime before Christmas.

Abolition Game

Okay, I'm not even sure why I'm putting this up for download, but whatever. I made this game in EIGHTH GRADE, as a project for social studies class. It wowed everybody that a 14-year-old could program a game, but it got a good grade, too. I consider it my first real Game Editor attempt, and I was pretty pleased with the outcome at the time. Looking back on it, it was very poorly done. It is sort of stupid, but oh well. It got a 98. Download Link is below, the subject is abolition and the underground railroad. Enjoy.
